- i am attempting some "productive procrastination" by "making some updates to my website" but even this is proving to be very difficult and not a good time. it's weird because i know what i want and i should know how to get there. and the little tasks that are involved are not very complicated at all. but as soon as i look at the code it's like my mind totally fizzles out.
- i'm not saying i'm burnt out necessarily but i am saying burnout is real and sucks.
- "then what are you saying" i am saying exactly what i said.
- typing all this into the little box is helping me somehow.

tri is so smart for this
<iframe>
— the minimal viable embed 😈 😇
some notes:
- with JS, it is possible to detect if a webpage is loaded in an iframe. so theoretically i could apply some custom styles to my own posts if they're in an iframe!
- Natalie's
h-entry
explainer has relevant things on more "properly" embedding other people's posts, and making your own posts embeddable. (it seems straightforward! i have not yet taken the time to follow throughother than adding the classes on my own posts, which did not take much time at all.ok i thought i did that, i was literally chatting with bcj when i did that… but the commit does not exist. wtf. ok will fix later 👍) - i was also kind of so smart for a related idea (which, once again, seems So Simple that i figure it has prior art)
- postscript: tri also made a followup post with some tips and tricks!!
yeah i enjoy coffee... wait... we already knew this.
i look at my feed reader and
honestly… whoa. the truth is i was never a huge google reader guy and in my own "heyday of personal sites", my routine was to… click through my blogroll? or bookmarks?
and i think now i'm following at least 4x as many sites as i did then. which is something i never thought i'd see. not to be all Numbers or Wow Quantity! about it.
however. please 😮💨 at me if i am only ever posting about computer or website. to lightly paraphrase something a friend pointed out… the real tragedy of october 1 is that a lot more of the people who i will be seeing online in this way will be… computer touchers. programmers. (although now that i say this: it would be interesting to do a little audit of my actual blogroll. because i can think of Several who are not this.)
setting up this site was not too hard, but i've set up websites before: and the thing i know about my last site is that despite my best intentions, i did Not blog or post on it. and i've gone through some trouble this time around to meet every point of friction around that head-on. (one current point of friction: i cannot currently save a draft.) and i'm not pleased with the amount of friction i've run into! and i'm a little pleased with what i've been able to do to mitigate that, but it's a bittersweet sort of pleasure, since… boy did it take a lot of prior knowledge to address some of these things. and i want to share what i've done, but i also don't want to be a public code maintainer either. well. i'll figure something out.
this is the part where i'd put this in drafts if i had yet implemented a little "draft" toggle :) instead i'm gonna yeet it. ["let's post" voice] let's yeet
