my feeling about the Death card in tarot is that i find it very irritating when an interpreter goes out of their way to make it "less scary". in general i also think tarot readings should always be at least a little bit uncomfortable or what are you even doing. but also it's a weird time for me to be having any of these opinions seeing as i have been away from the tarot for a little while now :o)
