on one hand, actually having to think about git internals such as "blob" and "tree" and "ref" and "commit" has helped me understand what they are and how they relate to each other more than ever before. (git is a miserable pile of pointers, or something.)
on the other hand, i only just now discovered that the github API does not support image uploads. i was not anticipating this since you can upload images (well, files in general) through the github web interface! so i guess i'm text-only unless i'm at a computer. and you know what. fine. i like limitations
